Bore Condition: The bore is dark and mostly smooth with some oxidation and pitting.
Description:

This commercial production "India pattern" variation "Brown Bess" musket was manufactured by William James King of Birmingham c. 1824-1837. There are a few other known examples of these W.J. King made muskets. These were made for the commercial market which would have included the many privately armed volunteer units of the era. It features a bayonet lug that also serves as the front sight near the muzzle, Birmingham proofs at the breech, "W.J. KING" at the center of the lock, brass furniture, and a walnut stock.

Rating Definition:

Good with gray and brown patina, mild oxidation/pitting, aged patina on the mounts, and mild overall wear. The stock is poor with multiple spliced sections, some chips, and dents and scratches. Mechanically fine.
