Description:

A very similar example is shown on page 62 of "The American Sword, 1775-1945" by Peterson and is described as an "Officer's Short Saber of the Revolution." The curved blade is approximately 26 1/2 inches long and has double fullers and a 7 5/8 inch false edge. The hilt is gilt brass with an lion's head pommel, and the grip is dark horn with a contrasting strip of copper ribbon. Provenance: Property of a Gentleman

Rating Definition:

Very good with dark patina and moderate oxidation/pitting along the blade, strong original gilt finish on the hilt, minor wear overall, and minor chipping at the ends of the grip.
