Description:

The first semi-automatic sniper rifle adopted by the U.S. military, the M1C sniper rifle was developed in 1944 and was the standard issue sniper rifle during late World War II, Korea and saw use into Vietnam. It is estimated that approximately 4,000 were produced during World War II with hundreds provided to various NATO allies in the late 1950s/early 1960s and hundreds destroyed by the U.S. Government in the 1980/90s. The receiver of this rifle was manufactured in December of 1944, "S-A-2-51" barrel, "-19SA" bolt, "-12-SA" trigger housing, "-1-SA" milled trigger guard, "W.R.A." hammer, and relief cut "SA" operating rod. The scope rail/bracket is secured to the side with three screws and two pins, numbered "3637988" on the underside, with an unmarked modern reproduction ring assembly. The Lyman Alaskan 2.5x scope is blue finished, with serial number on the tube (half concealed by the rear scope ring), rubber eyepiece and a post-and-crosshair reticle. The left of the stock wrist is stamped with a faintly legible boxed "S.A./N.F.R." inspection cartouche and crossed cannons cartouche, "7988" stamped on the right of the buttstock, and "P" proof stamped on the front of the grip.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine overall as arsenal upgraded to M1C configuration, retains 98% parkerized and blue finishes. The arsenal refurbished stock is very fine with some scattered dents and scratches and defined edges. Mechanically excellent. Scope is excellent, retains 85% original blue finish on the tube with edge wear and some light surface freckling and crisp clear optics.
