Description:

This exceptional double rifle was built in 1991 on Carl Friedrich Stendebach's scarcely encountered 1905 patent action and is truly a wonder to behold. The rifle was made with blued Krupp steel barrels featuring a ramped beaded blade front sight, adjustable single leaf rear sight, gold inlaid "R. WILKE, NAUEN" signature, and a flourish of floral engraving all on the matted flat solid rib. The barrels also feature gorgeous gold inlaid floral vines at the top and sides of the breech, a front sling swivel, import mark under the forend, 1991 dated German proof marks, and chambers with a single extractor. The barrels are fitted to the coin finished Stendebach patent action which displays extensive deep relief cut floral scroll engraving over a matted background and surrounding three relief gold inlaid game scenes. The game scenes depict a magnificent fallow deer buck, two does, and two fawns on the left side, a bust of a mouflon ram on the underside, and a pack of boar hounds set upon a boar on the right, all cut in fine detail. The engraving is signed "HEYM" on the left side of the action for the exceptional master engraver who completed this stunning piece of art. The rifle features double gold plated triggers, a gold inlaid push forward underlever, cocking indicators, and a tang mounted automatic safety with gold "S" indicator. The rifle is fitted with an exceptionally well-figured, fancy checkered, and relief floral carved semi-beavertail forend with engraved and gold inlaid fittings and an ebony tip inlay as well as a pistol grip stock with matching checkering and carving, a horn grip cap, raised cheekpiece, rear sling swivel, and an engraved and gold inlaid steel trapdoor buttplate with room for four cartridges. Length of pull 14 15/16 inches. Weight 9 lbs. 12 oz.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall, retaining 98% original blue, coin, and gold finishes with minor handling evidence, slight loss on the buttplate and action wear point areas, and sharp checkering and carving on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent, action very tight. Do not miss this chance to own this exceptional and scarce double rifle!
