Bore Condition: The bore is darkened and has distinct rifling and mild oxidation/pitting.
Description:

Samuel Gehrett (1789-1854) worked as a gunmaker in Haines Township, Centre County, later in Union Township, Huntingdon County, and finally in Plum Creek Township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. The rifle is signed "SG" on the barrel and handmade lock and features double set triggers, engraved brass mounts, German silver "JS" inscribed wrist escutcheon and hunter's star on the cheekpiece, incised carved curly maple stock. and lightly striped ramrod.

Rating Definition:

Very good with gray and brown patina, mild pitting at the breech, attractively aged patina on the brass mounts, repair on the right side of the forend ahead of the lock, minor cracks and chips, and general mild overall wear. Mechanically fine (set trigger first).
