Description:

The receiver of this rifle was originally manufactured in August of 1941 and subsequently arsenal upgraded to the M1D Sniper configuration. Rifles so converted were used by snipers during Korea and the Vietnam War. Blade front and peep rear sights, "DRC" windage drum, double stamped partly illegible markings on the Springfield barrel that end with a "52" date, "-2SA" bolt, "3 SA" relief cut operating rod, "-14-SA" trigger housing and "-3 SA" hammer, import mark on bottom breech of barrel, M84 scope serial numbered "4862" with a post-and-crosshair reticle, sliding sunshield and a rubber eyepiece, stock stamped with a faintly visible boxed "S.A./G.A.W" next to a crossed cannons cartouche on the left of the wrist and a circled "P" proof above an uncircled "P" proof on the front of the grip area, Hart M2 cone flash hider, olive drab green canvas web sling and K-line leather cheekpad.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine overall as arsenal upgraded to M1D configuration, retains 99% parkerized finish with areas of dried preservative grease and a few patches of minor surface oxidation on the receiver. The arsenal refurbished stock is very fine with a few scattered dents, chips, light handling marks and defined edges. Mechanically excellent. Scope is excellent, retains 98% original blue finish on the tube, with an absent cracked spring catch on the top dial cover, and crisp clear optics.
