Description:

This is an original, unaltered WWII Winchester M1 Garand CMP Collector Grade rifle with a CMP certificate. These late Winchester M1 Garand rifles were dubbed “WIN-13"s because the receivers were actually roll marked with the “D28292WIN-13” drawing number instead of the next revision number of "D28292-3". Why the anomaly no one knows however the late WIN-13 (circa) 1945 Winchester M1s are found in the serial number range of “1601150 through 1642162. Total estimates being approximately 30,000 manufactured before the Winchester contracts were cancelled due to the end of the war. Most were reissued in the post war years especially during the Korean War making original surviving examples very rare. The receiver markings are "U.S. RIFLE/CAL .30/WINCHESTER /1618825” the right lower side marked “D28292WIN-13. This rifle is fitted with its all original and unaltered WWII Winchester marked parts with original matching parkerized finishes. Parts are marked as follows: bolt, D28287-1 W.R.A. with a blued extractor; original uncut Operating Rod "D35382-W.R.A."; original Winchester locking bar rear sight assembly with the 200 yard range marked elevation knob with a blued locking bar and the later Winchester pattern open arrow windage markings. The Winchester clip release, has the rounded front end, a -13 stamped Winchester follower, correct stamped Winchester long fork recoil spring guide. The trigger guard is stamped "D28290-W.R.A.", hammer is stamped "C46008-1 W.R.A.", safety is marked "W.R.A.-1" with the flat top and no hole with the various pins still blued. The middle barrel band has the beveled side only used by Winchester with a late stamped lower hand guard band. The middle band cross-pin is correctly solid and remains still staked in place. The right side barrel is stamped with the circled/intertwined Winchester "W/P" firing proof with a partial number “2” showing at the edge of the rear hand guard, with the breech end still in the white. Although the hand guards were not removed the top of the barrel is undoubtedly stamped with drawing number “D-35448 W.R.A.” which was the late WWII barrel drawing number. It is fitted with its original WWII Winchester manufactured gas cylinder with the rare “Du-lite" blued protective finish and a Winchester front sight with the wide ears. The gas plug is correctly stamped “P and O”. It has it original and matching all walnut stock and hand guard set with a clear/crisp boxed "W.R.A./GHD” acceptance cartouche on the left side with a late circled single “P” firing proof in the grip area. It has the late Winchester butt plate with checkering towards the center with a smooth outer edge. As noted it is complete with its original CMP certificate and sale receipt showing sale as a Collector Grade in July 2007.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus, retains 99% original WWII Winchester parkerized finish overall with a hint of wear on the right receiver side wall where it contacts the operating rod. The gas cylinder retains 99% original du-lite blue finish. The stock and hand guards are also near excellent with their matching medium brown color overall with a clear, sharp and distinct cartouche and firing proof. The sides of the stock does shows scattered minor to moderate pressure bumps in various areas from handling and storage while in US Army inventory that adds to its Army ownership. Actually one of the best, fully documented late WWII Winchester WIN-13 M1 Garand rifle we have offered for sale. Certainly for the advanced US martial arms collector.
