This is an example of a Weimar era DWM "Alphabet" Luger that was manufactured sometime between 1928-1933 in the "r" serial block as originally factory made utilizing some earlier surplus parts mixed with some newly manufactured parts, and issued to one of the various Weimar units during this time frame. The top of the chamber area is unmarked, with the DWM logo on the front toggle, drooped wing "eagle/33" and "TP" proofs marked on the Simson manufactured barrel, eagle firing proofs on the right side of the barrel extension and barrel, a faint early "Crown/N" commercial firing proof visible on the left of the barrel extension beneath the overstamped factory applied serial number, standard extractor and safety markings, "S" on the interior of the left grip panel, an "eagle/6" Simson proof on the interior of the right grip panel, and a Schmeisser patent Haenel magazine marked with the matching serial number on the base. Besides the correct type grips being unnumbered, all visible serial numbered components are matching. Includes a leather flap holster stamped "1.E.2." on the rear and "F/AF.7.24" on the front. The lot is also accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from noted author Jan C. Still's family verifying it is from his personal collection. Provenance: The Jan Still Luger Collection

Exceptionally fine, retains 98% arsenal blue finish and 85% straw colors with some minor high edge wear. Grips are excellent with a few light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Holster is fine with some light age related wear.
