Description:

Originally designed as an entry for the German Army's G22 long range sniper rifle trials, this is one of approximately 120 Model 93 SR rifles Manufactured by Mauser from 1993 to 1997. Incorporating Mauser's proven two-lug bolt action combined with a free floating barrel and side adjustable bolt handle, the Model 93 SR was offered in three calibers, being 7.62x51 mm NATO (.308 Win.), .300 Winchester Magnum, and .338 Lapua, with this example chambered for .300 Winchester Magnum. It was entered into the German Army trials in an effort to secure a contract that could save the future of the Mauser firm, but the design was ultimately passed over for Accuracy International's now revered Arctic Warfare Magnum (AWM). Mauser then sought to fill police contracts and import orders with the rifle, with some success with the Dutch and German special forces; however, production ended when Mauser was purchased by Rheinmetall. It is currently believed that only seven such rifles are in private hands, with this examples possibly being one of only two .300 Win. Mag. chambered variants in the United States, with Rock Island Auction Co. having previously sold such a specimen (auction 88, lot 596) for a price realized of $52,875, making it even rarer in the U.S. than the coveted Walther WA2000, of which fifteen are believed to be state-side. Manufactured without sights, features a fully free-floated an straight fluted barrel fitted with a four port flash hider/muzzle brake, chromoly steel action with Picatinny rail on top of the receiver and reversible bolt handle, bilateral thumb safety, proprietary detachable box magazine, and adjustable straight trigger. The left side of the chamber is marked with "eagle/N" proof, "KF" (1995) date code, Ulm alter proof, and the caliber, right side of the barrel with an importer mark, while the receiver bears an "eagle/N" proof with the serial number, model, and manufacturer's address on the left side and "Made in Germany" on the right. Fitted with a full length proprietary green aluminum/fiberglass chassis system with textured black polymer forend grip panels and pistol grip, integral folding bipod, adjustable rear monopod, adjustable cheekpiece, and buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine, retaining 90% original black finish with some minor surface rust on screws and other steel components, some minor edge wear, and limited minor handling marks. The stock is very fine with some light gouging in the bipod slot and otherwise limited mild handling evidence. Mechanically excellent. A virtually unheard of opportunity to own what is possibly one of just two such rifles in the U.S., a fitting crown jewel for even the most advanced German military or sniper collections!
