This framed print depicts a large herd of cattle grazing on the open Montana plains in the background is a rocky Ridgeline dotted with trees. The lower edge of the image is marked "#226 A Trail Herd, Powder River, Negative, Print, and Copyright by L.A. Huffman, Milestown, Mont. 1886" in black. Photos like this are some of the most well known subjects of L.A. Huffman's career as he photographed the natural aspects of Montana from nearly every angle many times photographing from horseback.
