Description:

Manufactured in 1914, .32-20 WCF was a very popular caliber in the first generation SAA line. As author Dan Brown put it, "The .32-20 WCF cartridge had good range and accuracy. It is very easy to shoot, as it does not make the revolver buck as the larger calibers do. It also was used as a companion to the Winchester rifle of the .32-20 WCF caliber" ("The 36 Calibers of the Colt Single Action Army," page 190). The factory letter states the revolver was shipped on April 14, 1914 to Farwell, Ozman, Kirk & Co. of St. Paul, Minnesota, with a 4 3/4 inch barrel in .32-20 caliber, blue finish, and type of stocks not listed. This was a two gun shipment. The barrel carries the two-line Hartford address on top and "32 WCF" on the left side. The left side of the frame has the two-line patent dates marking followed by a Rampant Colt. Matching serial numbers appear on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap. The revolver is fitted with a set of period pearl grips.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retaining 50% original blue finish and 40% original case colors with smooth brown-gray patina on the balance. The oversized replacement grips are also fine with highly attractive fiery colors. The cylinder does not lock properly, otherwise action functions.
