Description:

This .22 H.P. chambered Savage Model 1899H lightweight takedown carbine was manufactured in 1915 according to the production chart on page 134 of "A Collector's Guide to the Savage 99 Rifle" (2016) by David Royal. Page 50 of the aforementioned book states that the . 22 Savage Hi-Power cartridge was introduced in 1912 and was only offered in the Model 1899H lightweight takedown carbines. Features a 20 inch barrel with a German silver beaded blade front sight and adjustable elevator notch rear sight, with the Savage Arms Co. Utica, N.Y. address above 1893, 1899 and 1909 patent dates marked in two lines on top of the barrel, "MODEL 1899" and "22 H.P." on the upper left of the barrel, cartridge counter on the left of the receiver, and walnut furniture with a hard rubber buttplate bearing the Savage logo. Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 70% original blue finish with some areas of smooth brown freckling and light scratches on the balance, and 60% original case colors on the lever. Wood is fine with some scattered light scratches and dents, and distinct edges. Mechanically excellent.
