Description:

This example was built with the rare 2 inch barrel, the configuration referred to as a "Bicycle Gun" by the collecting fraternity. The barrel features fixed sights and is correctly stamped with the two-line address/patent dates marking on the left side with no caliber marking. The frame shows the Smith & Wesson logo on the right side opposite the sideplate. The revolver has matching serial numbers are on the butt, cylinder, barrel, and left grip panel (hand marked). The included factory letter confirms the current configuration and states that the gun was shipped from the Stockbridge Street factory on November 11, 1898, and delivered to Hartley & Graham of New York, New York. The letter also states "This was one of the first 2-inch models shipped". Includes the original factory box.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 90% plus original nickel finish with some light flaking on the front of the cylinder, 95% original blue on the triggerguard with minor spotting, light handling evidence, and a cylinder drag line. The left grip has turned brown; otherwise, the grips are very fine with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with edge wear and tearing.
