Bore Condition: The bore is darkened with some light pitting/corrosion.
Description:

Reportedly, 19,374 of these Model 1816 pistols were manufactured by Simeon North c. 1817-1820, according to "Flayderman's Guide" (9th Edition, 6A-017). The lock plate is marked "S. NORTH/U(federal eagle motif)S/MIDLn CON." at the center and has an angled brass pan without a fence. The upper left breech area of the barrel is marked with a "P" proof and "US", with a deep diamond shaped "condemnation" stamp visible on top of the breech. Brass blade front sight on the barrel band and inspection initial "V" above an oval bordered script cartouche stamped on the left stock flat.

Rating Definition:

Good with areas of artificially applied brown, gray patina on the balance, with some scattered freckling, light pitting, and legible markings on the lock and barrel. Stock is also good as re-oiled, with numerous scattered dents and scratches, a crack running between the tail of the lock and rear of the trigger guard, and a visible cartouche. Mechanically fine.
