Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and has some light pitting.
Description:

James Dalziel Dougall was originally a fishing tackle manufacturer in Glasgow in 1816 and later became a noted gunmaker of the mid-19th century and designed the "Lockfast" breechloading action and became a gunmaker to the Prince of Wales. This pistol has a blued, three-stage, smoothbore barrel with scroll engraving. The casehardened lock is signed "J. D. DOUGALL, GLASGOW." and also has scroll and border engraving. The silver stock has extensive engraving consisting primarily of ornate scrollwork and has a "ramshorn" butt and threaded vent pick. The belt hook is fitted to the left side, and a ramrod is fitted on the underside.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% plus original blue finish on the barrel, 60% plus original case colors on the lock, dark aged patina on most of the silver, crisp engraving and markings, a repaired "horn" at the heel, and generally minor overall wear. Mechanically excellent.
