Description:

Rebuilt/remanufactured post-World War II by Fleming Firearms of Charlesville, South Carolina, this is a fine example of the MP43 selective fire rifle. Later dubbed the "sturmgewehr" (literally "assault rifle"), the MP43 and its successors were intended to bridge the gap between the full power infantry rifle and pistol caliber submachine guns, a weapon that could perform at range and in a close-quarters brawl. In turn, this would influence the design of infantry weapons through the Cold War and beyond. Blade front and tangent rear sights, with a combination of proof marks and "cos" manufacturer code on the underside of the receiver, serial number and "44" date on the left side of the magazine well, and the Fleming address on the right side of the receiver (concealed by the trigger housing when assembled. Mixed manufacturer markings are present on multiple parts, with a stamped metal forearm, ribbed pistol grip panels, and a hardwood stock with steel reinforced heel and toe.

Rating Definition:

Fine as remanufactured, with 75% of the blue finish overall, showing areas of brown patina, scattered spotting, and mild wear and handling marks. The furniture is very good, with light scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
