This pair was manufactured in 1976, each gun was built with blued Special Steel barrels featuring a single bead sight on the matted flat vent rib which is marked with a gold "1" or "2" at the base, import mark on the flats, standard factory markings, chokes marked "**-"/"*-" (improved cylinder/improved modified), and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels of each gun are fitted to a coin finished action which displays a gold inlaid "1" or "2" on the toplever along with the highly attractive "D4" pattern engraving showing scroll engraving surrounding a trio of game scenes consisting of a pair of setters flushing a pheasant on the left, two pointers flushing a mallard on the right, two setter busts on the underside, and a woodcock on the triggerguard. The guns are signed "J.PIROTTE" on gun "1", and "M.BODSON" on gun "2", both on the left side below the scene for FN engravers Jeannine Pirotte and Mario Bodson. Both guns feature a single trigger and a tang mounted automatic safety/selector with gold inlaid "S", "O", and "U" indicators. Each gun is fitted with a beautifully figured and multi-point checkered Schnabel tip forend with engraved forearm iron as well as a straight grip perch belly style stock with teardrop carved drop points, "T.W." in the gold inscription oval, and a Kick-Eez recoil pad. Included is a wood and leather takedown motor case that houses both guns and show "T.W" initials on the case and the canvas cover. Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .726/.725 inches; choke constriction .011/.020 inches; minimum wall thickness .035/.033 inches; 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 1 9/16 inch drop at heel; 14 1/2 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 6 lbs. 14 oz.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 98% original blue finish, 95% original coin finish, some wear just ahead of the forend, some light oxidation on the forend iron, minor scattered freckling on the action. The wood is very good with a slightly oversized recoil pad, a small crack at the tip of the forend, a few light dings and scratches, and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is very fine.
