Part of the early German re-armament program under the recently-ascended German Party, the "K" date Lugers were manufactured in 1934 in violation of the Treaty of Versailles. Additionally, this Luger bears multiple markings suggesting that it was procured for the Kriegsmarine for issue via the Baltic Naval Station at Kiel; the combination of serial and inventory numbers is recorded in Jan Still's "Third Reich Lugers" (page 106) as one of 13 reported during the survey and one of approximately 300 procured in the K Date range. This pistol has fixed sights, with the "K" date on the chamber, "S/42" code on the front toggle link, and "S" proof stamps on a number of components, along with "O][37" stamps on the extension and barrel and "droop wing eagle" firing proofs on the barrel, extension and breechblock. The left side of the frame bears an "eagle/M" Kriegsmarine stamp, with an "O.1774" inventory number on the front strap. Some small parts are straw finished, with niter blue pins and screws, checkered grips, and a blue finished alloy base magazine. Very fine with 75% plus of the original blue, brown patina on the grip straps, bright edge wear, scattered spotting and mild handling marks. 50% of the original straw colors are present on the small parts, with bright gray on the remainder, and solid niter blue remains on the sear spring and toggle pins. The grips are fine with a chip visible on the left panel under safety lever, some dings and scratches otherwise. Mechanically excellent.
