Manufactured c. 1940-1945. This is a solid representative example of a genuine World War II German high turret sniper rifle that was manufactured by the Mauser factory and fitted with an original Kahles 4x90 sniper scope with matching numbered ring assembly. Deployed relatively early in World War II, while on paper the High Turret Sniper was rendered obsolete by the easier to make Long Rail and Short Rail Snipers, the High Turret Sniper was a robust and effective sharpshooting platform that never fully left military service during World War II. Hooded blade front and tangent rear sights, with a set of turret mounts installed on the "eagle/135" and "Mod.98" marked Mauser receiver. The matching numbered bolt has been fitted with a renumbered to match trimmed down safety switch and cocking piece, with a "cad" marked Kahles 4x scope numbered “44566” on the left of the dial, with a renumbered to match front ring marked "5903c" and the rear mount marked with an "eagle/135" proof. Stamped barrel bands, "byf" code trigger guard and floorplate, with a laminated stock with matching numbered handguard, cupped bright steel buttplate, and a brown leather sling.

Very fine, with 80% of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown patina, spotting and handling marks. Stock is fine, with minor scuffs and dings. Mechanically excellent. Scope is very fine with mild external wear, and optics are a bit hazy with a crisp reticle.
