Colt New Service Revolver engraved by Master Engraver Wilbur A. Glahn. The Colt factory letter that accompanies the revolver states that it was factory engraved and was shipped to the Tritch Hardware Company in Denver, Colorado, on January 27, 1925. The revolver is blued with Grade A scroll engraving and is fitted with ivory grips with silver Colt Medallions. Fewer than 75 Colt New Service Revolvers have been documented as factory engraved. The revolver has the second style two-line Hartford address with 1884, 1900 and 1905 patent dates on the top of the barrel. The left side of the barrel has the model and caliber "NEW SERVICE 45 COLT" in an engraved panel. The Rampant Colt trademark is in an oval surrounded by scroll engraving on the left side of the frame behind the cylinder latch. The Colt "VP/Triangle" proof is located on the frame above the left front trigger guard bow and the assembler's number "3" is stamped over the left rear bow. The serial number and "&" are stamped in the cylinder crane recess. The serial number is also stamped on the inside of the crane.

Excellent plus. The revolver retains 99.5% of the bright original blue finish and shows minimal wear. Finish loss is limited to some very minor edge wear, a faint scratch on the barrel at the muzzle and some very light handling wear on the back strap. The engraved surfaces are in perfect condition. The ivory grips are in mint condition with no chips or cracks. The grips have yellowed slightly from age and have an extremely attractive, mellow appearance. The action functions perfectly. This is a rare, factory engraved, Colt New Service with factory letter in near new condition. It would be extremely difficult to improve upon this revolver.
