This is a very nice example of a postwar semi automatic rifle as manufactured in FN Herstal, Belgium in 1949. This rifle was the first attempt by FN to produce and sell a successful semi automatic rifle in the post war years, this model eventually evolved into the very successful FNFAL series of rifles. This model is one of the rare "Luxembourg" Contract rifles, it is estimated that less than 10,000 total were produced in this contract. The top of the receiver is marked with the Luxembourg crest and the Belgium acceptance proofs. The right side is marked "FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES HERSTAL BELGIQUE". It has a military style tangent rear sight graduated to 1000 meters, an adjustable gas system, ten shot box magazine, walnut stock and handguards and all machined parts. The left side of the receiver has the milled dovetail slot for the "Sniper Scope Base". The stock is the correct military version with the upper hand guard, sling swivels, and steel buttplate.

Excellent with approximately 98% of the finish remaining overall. The barrel and receiver show some slight thinning of the finish especially on the sides of the receiver with minor handling marks overall. The stock is also excellent with only light handling marks overall. Mechanically excellent.
