Description:

This is a nice example of a early production Model SVT 1940 Tokarev Rifle that was captured and shortened by Finland after the 1940 Russo-Finnish war. This carbine has the small boxed "SA" Finnish capture proof mark on the left side of the receiver. These Tokarevs shortened to this carbine length actually make them very compact and easy to use and would be ideal for mountain and ski troops. These carbines use the same gas system as the rifles which is a long rod gas piston system with a fluted chamber to help during extraction in harsh conditions, along with a 10 round detachable box magazine. They were also a favorite on the Eastern front and were a favorite of the German soldiers who wanted the larger magazine capacity and the fire power of a semi-automatic rifle. The top of the receiver is marked with the Russian "Arrow in a Triangle" proof for the Ishevsk factory and is dated 1940 with the serial number on the left side of the receiver. The stock and handguards are made of Russian hardwood with the traditional orange color and both are unmarked. It has the military tangent rear sight calibrated to 1500 meters, with the hooded post front sight, with a perforated sheet metal front handguard, and the muzzle compensator on the end with the earlier style 12 slot muzzle break. It comes with an green canvas sling, cleaning rod and box magazine,

Rating Definition:

Arsenal rebuilt overall with 98% of the dipped blue finish. The stock and hand guard are both in excellent condition with minor handling marks and wear overall.
