The 40 caliber barrel has a globe front sight, a single leaf rear. Chambered for the 1.850 length Model 1873 cartridge. The smooth bore shotgun barrel is unmarked and appears to be a 32 gauge, with a brass front bead. Factory markings on both sides of the action with 1873 on the left side. Rack and pinion vernier mid-range tang sight, rosewood pistol grip lever adapter. Lower tang marked "1865" and serial number 25769. Deluxe straight grip stock with checkering, steel buttplate. Walnut takedown case with brass hardware, storage compartment in the lid, green wool interior. Contains a loading block for 75 40 caliber cartridges. Berdan decapper, Maynard capper, bullet seater marked #1, two cavity 40 caliber bullet mold, brass cleaning rod and wood base for depriming.

Fine overall with 50% thinning blue on the rifle barrel shotgun barrel shows light pitting with 50% blue thinning brown. The action has 30% mottled casehardened color. The stock has been revarnished at some time and shows light handling marks, good checkering with light wear. Loading tools are excellent. Takedown hardwood case is very good with light marks. Green cloth interior shows moderate wear.
