The Model 71 replaced the Model 1886 in 1935, similar in appearance to the 1886 with some internal parts strengthened to handle the powerful .348 cartridge. Four drilled / tapped holes on the left side of the action for scope mount. Standard model made in 1951. Hooded ramp front sight, adjustable buckhorn rear sight. 3/4 length tubular magazine. Plain two piece pistol grip stock with blued metal forend cap, white line rubber recoil pad with 13 inch pull and quick detachable sling swivels.

Fine as modified (tripson receiver) with 95% original blue finish remaining on the barrel with only a few light surface scratches. The receiver retains 90% original blue finish showing scattered surface scratches and some high edge wear. The wood is very good with some scratches and dings with a small patch of deeper scratches on the left buttstock. Mechanically fine.
