This is a nice example of a Remington Arms 40-XB sporting rifle with a Redfield variable power rifle scope with a Remington shipping box. These were a sporting rifle version of the 40X target rifle, which has been fitted with a short sporter style barrel, deluxe walnut stock with an ebony forend tip and skip-line checkering. This rifle has a Redfield variable power rifle scope with Redfield mounts. This rifle is complete with a Remington shipping box, that is marked on the end label, Remington Rangemaster Match Target Bolt Action Rifle, MODEL40-XB Center fire rifle, (that has been remarked in ink) Rimfire- Sporter. These rifles were made from approximately 1968 to 1982 .

Excellent overall with 98% of the original blue finish with very minor edge wear overall. The stock is also in excellent condition with 98% of the original stock finish. The shipping box is in good condition overall, showing some flattening and dried up tape.
