Description:

This is an excellent example of a very rare late production 1917 commercial model revolver as built on the early five screw N frame, with the pinned barrel. These early models were produced directly after the 1917 Military contract revolvers and are considered quite scarce. They looked exactly like the military version only with out any military markings and have a better fit and high polish blue finish overall. The left side of the barrel is marked with "S.&W. D.A. .45" and the top of the barrel has the standard two line patent and address markings, with a small S&W logo below the cylinder latch. It has the round blade front sight and notch rear sight with the unshrouded extractor rod, casehardened hammer and trigger. It is fitted with the early style S&W Checkered diamond walnut grips without S&W medallions, and fitted with a lanyard ring

Rating Definition:

Very good, with 90% of the original blue finish, showing some smooth wear and light scratches down the sides of the barrel, along with some light edge wear and a few minor handling marks. The grips are very good, with pressure dents on the butt, a small chip on left heel, and some wear on the checkering. Excellent action.
