This is a fine example of a high quality Austrian flintlock pistol of extraordinary length of 21 inches. The 14 3/8 inch barrel is fitted with a brass blade sight, with a pair of octagonal rings bordering a 4 1/2" engraved panel, showing two raised scenes of mounted soldiers surrounded by laurels and scroll patterns. The top scene shows two men, one with a curved bladed sword, the other with a flag. The lower scene shows another pair, both on horses, with one holding a rifle. More engraving is present on the lock, with "IO: PETER PLANER" under the fenced flashpan and "IN WIENN" behind the hammer, with arrangements of weapons and flags on the plate and scrollwork on the hammer and frizzen. The arms arrangement is present on the brass reverse plate and trigger guard and scrollwork is visible on all of the brass stock hardware. Smooth one piece stock, with scroll carving on the underside and around the lock with engraved brass hardware.

Fine, showing some mild spotting on the bright once cleaned surface, very light pitting around the sight, and a few dark spots and handling marks overall. The brass furniture has been varnished, with some light wear and dings. Stock is very good as repaired, with a few areas of fill and mended forearm cracks. Action is fine.
