Description:

Dated 1806 but made in the 20th Century. Marked with a large American eagle over "US" in front of the hammer, "HARPERS / FERRY/ 1806" vertically at the tail of the lock plate. The rear of the barrel has been stamped "V P", and is fitted with a brass blade front sight, no rear sight, and an iron rib holding a brass headed wood ramrod. Smooth one piece stock, with a brass band at the front, brass reverse plate marked "A", a faint cartouche to the rear of the plate, and a brass butt. Produced in braces of two, the 1805 was the first military pistol made by a national armory, and remains the symbol of the U.S. Army Military Police to this day.

Rating Definition:

Semi-professionally made copy, with an artificial mixed brown patina showing on the barrel, along with a patch of gray on the barrel tang and some heavy spotting around the muzzle. Bright case colors are visible on the lock plate, with a brown patina on most of the hammer. Grip is very good, with a thin crack extending from the trigger guard, light pressure dents, and an area of fading near the butt. Action is good.
