Description:

A good example of an Ames Model 1840 Dragon Saber. The right ricasso is marked "US / A.D.K". The left ricasso is marked "AMES MFG. CO. / CABOTVILLE / 1851". The saber has a brass hilt. The pommel cap is stamped with the inspector's initials "J.W.R." and "J.W.R.". The saber retains the original leather grip cover and twisted brass wire wrap. The saber is complete with the regulation iron scabbard.

Rating Definition:

Good, with spotting and sharpening marks on the blade, light wear on the grip. The scabbard has been cleaned and shows a mixed patina overall with some light pitting. The sword shows an aged color on the brass, with clear markings.
