Description:

Thirty-six inch blade with double fullers, marked "HORSTMANN" on the right ricasso and again on the left over another, illegible marking. Hardwood grip with brass and wire wrapping, fitted with a replacement two-branch handguard and pommel marked "XVI". With a steel sheath fitted with two hanging rings. According to information provided by a previous owner (included), this sword was acquired from a Kentucky farmer, who stated that this sword, along with a carbine and pinfire revolver, were carried by a family member in the service of the Confederate Army. Condition is good, with some spotting and scratching on the blade, lost leather on the grip, spotting and a brown patina on the sheath, and an aged brass patina.
