Description:

1) Ames Naval Sword, marked "U.S.N./ 1842" on the left side of the wide 21" long blade and "W.P. AMES/ CABOTVILLE/ MASS." on the right. Solid brass hilt, with scale grip pattern, American eagle designs on the pommel, and a knuckle guard stamped "No. 1.15" on the top and "2/ 2DP" on the front. Brass riveted leather sheath, with belt loop. Fine, with some pitting on the blade and a mixed brass patina. Sheath is fair, with cracks and tears. 2) Ames naval sword, marked "AMES MFG Co" on one side of the double edges 20" blade and "USN/ CGS" on the other. Solid brass hilt, with scale grip pattern and textured pattern on the guard and pommel. Leather sheath with brass fittings. Very good, with light wear and spotting on the blade, a few dings on the grip, and mild wear on the sheath.
