Approximately 25,000 Model 1875's were manufactured between 1875 and 1889. The Model 1875 was Remington's attempt to compete with the Colt Single Action Army revolver, but Remington lacked the advantage of Colt's early start in government sales. Marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A" on top of the barrel reading from breech to muzzle. The serial number is marked on the left side of the grip frame under the grip. The second and last "2" appear to be stamped over a "1". Pinched blade front sight screwed into barrel and notch rear sight. The revolver is fitted with smooth two piece walnut grips with a lanyard ring on the butt.

Good. All metal surfaces have been cleaned and now have a mottled gray patina with some scattered overall light to moderate pitting. The grips are poor, showing heavy wear, with a chip on each toe, a moderate dent on the upper left panel (backstrap slightly dented also), scattered minor dings and dents. The markings are visible, but not readable. The action is fine.
