OF - FAIR- some major parts replaced; minor replacement parts may be required; metal rusted, may be lightly pitted all over, vigorously cleaned; rounded edges of metal and wood; principal lettering, numerals and design on metal partly obliterated; wood scratched, bruised, cracked or repaired where broken; in fair working order or can be easily repaired and placed in working order.

Description:

Manufactured from 1873 to 1880, this is an early model with no top strap, square butt and dished cylinder flutes. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address and the left side of the frame below the cylinder is marked "CALIBRE / WINCHESTER 1873", the designation for 44-40 caliber. Fitted with varnished checkered two piece grips and lanyard ring on the butt.

Rating Definition:

Poor. All metal surfaces have a gray patina with overall scattered minor dings and pinprick type pitting. There are a couple of areas on the right side of the barrel that retain original nickel finish. The grips are good as altered, non-professionally checkered, and varnished with most of the finish remaining, a minor crack on the right panel and minor handling marks. The markings are partially visible. The frame screws are slightly marred. The cylinder and barrel are a little loose, however the action works fine.
