Approximately 25,000 Model 1875's were manufactured between 1875 and 1889. The Model 1875 was Remington's attempt to compete with the Colt Single Action Army revolver, but Remington lacked the advantage of Colt's early start in government sales. Marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A" on top of the barrel. The serial number is marked on the left side of the grip frame under the grip. Pinched blade front sight screwed into barrel and notch rear sight. Fitted with smooth two piece walnut grips with a lanyard ring mounted on the butt.

Fine. The revolver retains approximately 70% of the original nickel finish with scattered minor flaking and a gray patina on the loading gate and cylinder with minor pitting on the cylinder. The grips are very good with rounded heels and toes and a few minor dents and handling marks. The markings are crisp. The action is fine.
