Description:

Approximately 25,000 Model 1875's were manufactured between 1875 and 1889. The Model 1875 was Remington's attempt to compete with the Colt Single Action Army revolver, but Remington lacked the advantage of Colt's early start in government sales. Marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A" on top of the barrel. The number 777 is marked on the left side of the grip frame under the grip. Pinched blade front sight screwed into barrel and notch rear sight. All nickel finish and fitted with old FRANZITE PLASTIC grips. The revolver is without the usual lanyard ring on the butt and appears to have never had one.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The revolver retains approximately 70% of the original finish. The exposed areas have a smooth gray patina. The left side of the lower ejector housing web appears to have been sanded with an abrasive material that has left numerous minor scratched in the metal. The muzzle has much wear on the top left side with the font sight having been either modified or replaced. The grips are good with only light handling marks and a mellow light patina. The barrel marking is crisp and clear. The action is fine.
