Description:

Manufactured from 1873 to 1880, this is an early model with no top strap, square butt and dished cylinder flutes. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line New York address/patent dates and the one line Norwich address on the left side of the barrel. Fitted with two piece smooth ivory grips and lanyard ring on the butt.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The barrel retains traces of original nickel finish in the protected areas mixed with a smooth silver patina. The frame and cylinder retain approximately 50% of the nickel finish with heavy edge wear, moderate flaking and some smooth silver patina on the back strap. The right grip has been repaired, otherwise the grips are good with some minor hairline cracks and a few large bottom edge chips. Mechanically needs work. From the Will Hoffeld collection, purchased from Bob Venger in L.A., 1978.
