Description:

This is a very nice example of a early Cowboy era Colt Single Action Army with the desirable nickel plated finish, that has been engraved in a Cuno Helfricht pattern and fitted with a set of Mother of Pearl Grips. The revolver has been engraved in a Cuno Helfricht-type pattern that consists of a floral motif and geometric designs, with a punch dot back ground which covers 3/4 of the pistol. This revolver was manufactured in 1889 and it has a standard black powder frame with the single line barrel address of 'COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.' and the left side of the barrel is marked '45 COLT' with the front edge of the trigger guard bow marked '45 CAL'. The left side of the frame has the usual three line patent dates without the Rampant Colt logo. It has the standard blade front sight and notched rear sight in the top strap. It has the desirable Colt nickel plated finish on all the parts with the exception of the blue screws and it has a set of Mother of Pearl with the right grip panel having the Classic large Steer Head carving.

Rating Definition:

Fair overall with 85% of the current nickel plated finish remaining with minor wear and flaking on the sides of the barrel edges and high spots with some flaking or bubbling on the sides of the cylinder and frame. The serial numbers on the frame and buttstock have been restamped. The grips are slightly oversized and in very good condition, showing no cracks or damage other than a tiny chip on the left heel grip. The loading gate is numbered 7884. A nice example of a custom engraved Colt Single Action Army revolver.
