Manufactured in 1889, this is a back action, under lever double rifle with a blade front sight and a three leaf folding rear sight with graduation markings on the solid rib with a dolls head extension. There is a short range lyman peep sight mounted on the tang. Barrels marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND 98 NEW BOND STREET LONDON" on the right and " WINNERS OF ALL THE "FIELD" RIFLE TRIALS, LONDON" on the left. There is a sling swivel eye mounted on the underside of the rib. The left side of the frame is marked "CHARGE 5 DRAMS CASE 3 1/4 INCHES" and the side plates are marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND". Checkered splinter forearm and pistol grip stock with a hard rubber grip cap, cheek piece, unmarked vented recoil pad and a sling swivel stud. The rifle is accompanied by a framed letter from Holland & Holland dated February 27, 1989, confirming the serial number, year of manufacture and that it is a back action, under lever rifle.

Refinished with 97% finish remaining with smooth brown patina on the trigger guard and top of the receiver. There are scattered areas of minor pitting that have been finished over. The wood has been varnished and remains very good with some signs of light sanding on the stock. Overall minor handling marks and crisp checkering. The action needs work and the left hammer will not hold the cock position, otherwise the mechanics are fine. The freshened markings are clear.
