Description:

Manufactured between 1917 and 1951, this Specialty Grade L.C. Smith features solid rib barrels with a single brass bead sight on the matte rib, 2 3/4 inch chambers, choked full with ejectors. The top rear of the right barrel is marked "L.C. SMITH Specialty GRADE" and the left "HUNTER ARMS CO. INC. MFR'S FULTON, N.Y., U.S.A.". The barrels, triggers and trigger guard were once blue and the action and side plates were once casehardened. The action, side plates, break lever and trigger guard are floral scroll engraved with ducks in a marsh scene on the right side plate and two quail in a field scene on the left. Double triggers and tang safety. The forearm and pistol grip stock are checkered with a contrasting forend insert and a hard rubber grip cap and partially serrated buttplate with dogs chasing a buck.

Rating Definition:

Good. With the exception of the solid rib, the barrels have been heavily cleaned and polished to a bright finish. The rest of the metal surfaces exhibit some light traces of case color mixed with a smooth dull silver patina and some evidence of being cleaned at one time. The refinished stock is very fine with minimal handling marks and the buttplate is just beginning to separate. The checkering is sharp. The markings and engraving are clear and crisp.
