Description:

The barrel pivots down by pushing the swivel device to the right the barrel features a simple "V" notch rear sight and a dovetailed post front sight. The barrel is marked "A. SPELLERBERG" on the top right flat and "Patent July 30, 1861" the perch belly stock features a brass toe plate and crescent buttplate. The barrel tang extends to the comb, and the trigger guard extends two inches past this. Both of these are exceptionally wide at about 3/4 inch. The consignor notes that this is a very rare piece, possibly the only Spellerberg known. It was written up in "Gun Report Magazine" December 1959 and was purchased in Fondue Loc, Wisconsin circa 1958.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The barrel is a smooth silver grey with scattered brown oxidation mixed in. The wood is very fine and retains most of it's original finish. The action is fine.
