The serial is on the frame under the primer cover and again under the grips. The inside of the top strap and barrel are marked "416". Produced between 1851 and 1860. This revolver is the later type which has a larger frame and automatic revolving cylinder. Brass pin front sight and notch rear sight on the top strap. The barrel and top strap are hinged for easy removal of the cylinder. The 6-round unfluted cylinder is florally etched, and the frame and hammer are lightly scroll engraved. Total production on this type was about 1,500 to 2,000.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The barrel retains approximately 97% of the bright original finish with some minor wear on the muzzle. The cylinder retains 95% original finish and the remaining parts retain approximately 50% original finish with a smooth brownish patina on the trigger guard, butt and backstrap. Areas on the frame are mixed with smooth brown patina. The top strap shows strong traces of original faded case colors while the remainder has faded to a smooth brown patina. The grips are very fine with 98% varnish and a few minor dents and dings. The engraving and markings are clear. The action is excellent.
