Part of the "Model 1870 Pocket Rifle" series of long barreled single shot stocked pistols, also known as "Sportsman's Jewel". Approximately 5,000 of these pistols were produced between 1870 and 1893. This is the Third Type with the external push button half-cock on the left side of the frame and a nickel plated iron frame. The barrel is blue and marked on the left side "FRANK WESSON WORCESTER, MASS. / PATENTED MAY 31,1870". Equipped with a globe front and adjustable rear sights. The barrel turns on an axis to the right for loading and unloading, and has a sliding manual extractor. The hammer and spur trigger are both checkered. The grips are smooth rosewood. Complete with a nickel plated skeleton type shoulder stock numbered to the gun and comes in a wooden case with leather restrains to secure the pistol and stock.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The barrel retains approximately 40% original thinning finish mixed with smooth brown patina. The frame retains virtually all of the original nickel plating with a few minor dings and some light scratches. The barrel assembly is slightly loose and the hammer does not hold the cock position. The grips are excellent with a few minor dings and handling marks. The markings are crisp and clear. The stock is excellent retaining approximately 98% original finish with a few areas of minor flaking. The box is good.
