Six barrel cluster marked "ALLEN & THURBER WORCESTER" on one barrel rib "PATENTED 1837" on another and "CAST-STEEL" on a third. "ALLEN'S PATENT" is stamped on the left side of the hammer. Standard broad scroll engraving on the frame and floral scroll roll engraving on the detachable nipple shield. The matching serial number is marked on the barrel between the nipples, on the left side of the frame and hammer spring under the grip and stamped on the inside of each grip panel. Fitted with smooth bag shaped ivory grips.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The barrel cluster has a smooth brown patina with some scattered minor pitting. The remaining metal surfaces have a gray pitted patina. Part of the engraving on the shield and right side of the frame are visible. The nipples appear original and remain good. The grips are good with a moderate chip on the bottom of the right panel which is loose and a small chip on the top rear of each panel. There are a few minor age cracks on the right panel and around the screw escutcheon on the left panel, and they are beginning to darken with age. The barrel markings are crisp and clear. The action is fine.
