Manufactured circa mid 1840s, this small frame or "Pocket Size" pistol is equipped with a rare round hammer marked "ALLENS PATENT" on the left side. The barrel flutes are marked "ALLEN & THURBER / WORCESTER / PATENTED 1845" and the serial number is marked between two of the nipples, on the left side of the frame and hammer spring under the grip and stamped on the inside of each grip panel. The iron frame has broad scroll engraving and the back strap has a simple loop pattern border. Fitted with smooth varnished walnut bag shaped grips.

Very good. The barrel cluster is mostly a smooth brown patina. The remaining metal surfaces have a smooth grayish patina. The nipples appear to be original to the gun and remain in excellent condition. The grips are excellent with almost all of the varnish remaining and a few overall scattered minor dents and dings. The engraving is crisp. The action is excellent.
