Walther Model PPK pistol with pre-war German "crown/N" proof marks. The pistol has a blue finish and is factory engraved oak leaf and acorn pattern engraving. The engraving covers the entire pistol and includes the barrel chamber and the magazine floor plate. The pistol is fitted with the standard one-piece, brown plastic wrap-around grips with "WALTHER" in a banner above the checkered side panels. The pistol has fixed front and rear sights, a 90% thumb-lever safety, side mounted magazine release and lanyard loop on the butt. The left side of the slide has "WALTHER" on a relief carved banner followed by the two-line Walther legend on a relief carve panel and "Mod PPK" in a relief oval. The slide proof-mark is located on relief-carved oval. The serial number, "787672" is stamped vertically on the right side of the frame behind the trigger. The magazine is blued and has the Walther banner on the lower left side. The pistol is complete with a letter from author and Walter pistol expert James Rankin. The letter is dated March 24, 2009, and states: "In my opinion, the engraving is original to the manufacture of the pistol and was completed in house or as out-sourced to local engravers by the Walther Company". The letter further states that the engraving on the grip screw, trigger guard, safety and magazine base is consistent with the engraving on Walther presentation pieces.

Excellent. The oak leaf and acorn engraving is crisp and deep. The pistol retains approximately 97-98% of the original blue finish. There is light handling wear on the trigger and some very minor edge wear on the muzzle end of the slide. The blue finish on the chamber has thinned slightly. There is a hair-line crack on the upper left side of the grip but the grips are in otherwise excellent condition. The magazine has about 95% of the original blue finish. This is an excellent example of a pre-WII manufacture Walther Model PPK pistol with factory presentation grade engraving and a notarized appraisal letter from Walter expert James Rankin.
