Description:

A scarce example of the 1st Model Railway Protection Force Officer's Dagger with silver-plated scabbard. The 1st Model Daggers were authorized from 1935 to 1938 and were identical to the Third Reich Heer Daggers with the exception of the dark purple plastic grip. The dagger has a 10 1/4-inch bright blade. The reverse ricasso is etched with the maker's name and trademark: "ALCOSO/SOLINGEN". The silver-plated pommel is surrounded with cast oak leaves. The down-turned cross guard has a cast Third Reich Eagle and Swastika insignia on the obverse. The reverse of the cross-guard is crudely stamped "OEL". The silver-plated scabbard has a pebble finish on the sides and two suspension rings. The suspension bands have cast oak leaves on the sides.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The blade is in excellent condition with all of the original polish, crisp maker's marks and no significant wear. The silver-plated scabbard, cross-guard and pommel are tarnished but remain in very fine condition. The plastic, dark purple, grip is in very fine condition. This is a very fine example of a rare 1st Model Railway Protection Force Officer's Dagger that appears to be World War II, but could be possibly be postwar. In either case, it presents well.
