Description:

This is a early WWII German standard 98K rifle as manufactured by Gustloff-Werke factory and given the wartime code of "bcd". It has been fitted with an original and correct WWII German grenade launcher and side mounted sight. The German version of a grenade launcher was very unique in that it has a rifled bore firing a 25mm grenade that was very accurate and deadly. The grenade launcher is marked on the mount "G. GR. GER." over "fsu" the wartime manufacturer codes along with an Eagle WaA495 Waffenamt. The side mounted sight is marked on top of the attaching ring, "G. GR. GER./ K 98 K". The grenade launcher is complete with a leather carrying case that is marked on the back , "dkk/42" with an Eagle WaA195 Waffenamt proof on the back. The top of the receiver is proofed with the standard eagle 749 Waffenamt over "bcd/ 42", with the right side marked with a single No. "1" with the large Eagle firing proof on the left side. The rear section of the barrel has the markings of "FN 16/13 1941" indicating a FN manufactured barrel. It is fitted with the correct milled front barrel band with a stamped rear barrel band, both are unmarked with a correct milled trigger guard and floor plate both are correctly numbered and proofed. The bolt is also a mid war production with the rib on the side with the large double gas holes on the underside that has the correct numbered and matching parts. The stock is also a late war laminated version that has a single small Heers Eagle H proof on the right side of the buttstock, with a small letter "c" stamped on the underside and a cupped buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall with 95% of the original blue finish thinning somewhat on top of the receiver ring as well as the edges and high points, with some browning on the floor plate and trigger guard. The grenade launcher itself and sight have approximately 98% blue finish with just some minor edge and high spot wear. The stock and handguard are in excellent condition with a clear proof on the side. The rifle has all matching numbered parts on the receiver, barrel, bolt assembly, trigger guard and floor plate. The bands and stock are unnumbered but correctly match the rest of the parts, while handguard does not match but has the correct color, fit and finish as the stock. The leather carrying case is in like new condition with clear proofs on the back. A very nice example of a scarce rifle and grenade launcher rig.
