This is a post-war Model 49 semi-automatic rifle as produced by FN Herstal for Venezuela. This was the first successful attempt by FNH to produce a semi-automatic rifle after WWII. This rifle has the Venezuelan crest on the receiver ring. The right side of the receiver is marked "FABRIQUE NATIONALE D' ARMES DE GUERRE HERSTAL BELGIQUE" and the serial number. The pistol grip stock and handguard are walnut and the stock is fitted with a partially serrated, bright metal buttplate. It has a tangent rear sight, a blade front sight with side protectors, grooved flash hider, bayonet lug mounted on the bottom of the barrel, sling swivels, and box magazine. The left side of the receiver is grooved for a sniper scope base, that is missing.

Excellent. The rifle retains approximately 95% of the original black painted finish with smooth brown patina on the muzzle break and brown patina forming on the receiver (contained mostly to the ring). Wear and paint loss is showing on the magazine high edges. The stock is very good with some minor dings showing a light cleaning.
