Description:

Scarce, Japanese "Papa" Nambu Pistol manufactured by Tokyo Artillery Arsenal, circa 1906-1907. The pistol has a rust blue finish with straw colored trigger, magazine and ejector. The bolt is polished bright. The two-piece grips are checkered walnut. This early production pistol has milled frame side panels and lacks the stock slot found on early 1902 "Grandpa" Nambu pistols. The pistol is fitted with a tangent rear sight and a blued magazine with aluminum base. The Tokyo Artillery Arsenal symbol is located on the top of the receiver and the serial number, "2786" is located on the right side behind the grips. The bolt is serial numbered "2790". The magazine has a blued body, aluminum base and has no visible markings.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The pistol has the moderate wear and mismatched parts that are common to "Papa" Nambu pistol. The pistol retains approximately 75% of the original rust blue finish. The balance has a dark patina. The straw-colored trigger magazine release and ejector retain about 30% of the original finish There is moderate pitting on the grip straps and scattered light pitting on the barrel frame ad receiver. The checkered walnut grips are in good overall condition with flattened checkering and moderate handling marks. The magazine body has a dark patina with scattered light pitting; the aluminum base has numerous small dents and scratches. The markings and serial numbers are clear. This is a very good example of one of the first Japanese semi-automatic pistols.
