This is the second original Winchester two-barrel set, Model 21 presentation grade, and factory engraved, Grand American trap shotgun that we have to offer for sale in this auction. This shotgun is identical to the previous Model 21 shotgun from the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans collection and Western museum except this example is chambered in 12 gauge. Like the other Model 21 shotgun this is an original Winchester factory Model 21, commissioned or presented by the Winchester factory directly to Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. As previously stated, few people knew that both Roy and Dale were avid shotgun Trap and Claybird shooters for many, many years, competing and winning at the highest levels of this sport. This is very close in serial number range (SN 32916) to the other shotgun we have for sale, both being late production, Super RARE Grand American shotguns that came out of the custom shop. Again as noted which could easily be documented via a factory letter. These Grand American shotguns were the best Model 21s ever to be Winchester shotgun. The parts were hand fitted and finished giving them the smoothest action and best wood to metal fit of any Winchester shotgun produced. The first barrel set is chamber for 2 3/4 inch shells, (WS-1 & WS-2) and the second barrel set is also chambered for 2 3/4" shells (modified/full). The shotgun is lavishly engraved with 98% of the overall surfaces of the receiver being engraved in a deep relief vine and floral pattern with SEVEN deep relief Gold factory inlays, with the breech ends of the barrel also receiving a duplicated engraved pattern. As noted the shotgun is a Grand American version with the gold plated single trigger, that has a matted, raised ventilated rib that has been engraved on top of the rib, "CUSTOM BUILT BY WINCHESTER FOR ROY ROGERS". The water table of the receiver is correctly marked "MADE IN U.S.A./MODEL 21/WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN.", with the internal parts having an engine turned burnishing finish. The engraving that covers the shotgun is a masterfully done fine line floral and vine scroll engraving with an accompanying deep relief background scene that complements the gold inlays. The inlays themselves are like the engraving, masterfully laid out and executed. The left side of the receiver has a small ring-necked pheasant in flight that was flushed by Roy Rogers, hunting dog "SAM", which appears to be a German short-haired pointer or Labrador retrieve all set in a field scene with a shaded background. The underside of the receiver is also highly engraved overall the surfaces with the same scroll engraving and which also depicts in a raised gold relief inlay probably the two most well know, TV show animals ever, even today, Roy's companion dog "Bullet" and his horse "Trigger". Both of these animals were in all of Roy and Dale's movies. The underside of the trigger guard bow has a raised relief gold inlays that depicts the iconic "Long-Horn" steer. The right side of the receiver has the continuation of the same fine scroll engraving and depicts a gold relief engraved and inlayed standing cowboy figure, firing a shotgun in front of a trap house. It is fairly certain that this is meant to be depiction of Roy Rogers himself. Directly behind that there is a small, dime size, gold inlayed and engraved disc, that has a small symbol in the middle that is dated "1966" with the outer edges marked, "WINCHESTER NATIONAL CLAYBIRD TOURNAMENT". The shotgun is fitted with a set of AAA grade American claro walnut stock and forend, which shows alternating color rings with fiddle back. Both of which are meticulously hand-checkered in a "Fleur-De-Lis" with hand stippling or shading around the Fleur's. The forend has a black Ebony insert in the tip, just like the Winchester single shot rifle and the stock itself has a engraved steel grip cap that also has a fine gold line border around the edge with the center section, engraved with "ROY" over "GRAND AMERICAN". The lower section of the stock has a small brass presentation plaque that is engraved "DALE" for Dale Evans and is fitted with an English pattern rubber recoil pad. Length of pull approximately 14 3/8". The shotgun has the original deep blued factory finish on all the metal surfaces except for those inside the action and lug areas that has been left in the bright with the engine burnished swirls. This shotgun is housed in a Winchester factory leather covered carrying case that is marked on top "RR" with deep red lined fitted compartments to house the shotgun receiver/stock as well as the two barrel set and carrying strap. The case has a canvas cover that is also marked on top in gold "RR". The shotgun is complete with a "Certificate of Authenticity" stating by serial number that this shotgun "was personally owned and used by cowboy star Roy Rogers" and has been on display in the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans museum.

Excellent plus, with 99% of the original factory blued finish. With the 99% of the original stock and forearm finish showing just a couple small dings, one on the left side of the buttstock just below the comb and the other one directly at the very front edge of the forend area. The leather carrying case is like the shotgun in like new condition, with the outer canvas case showing various areas of scuffing and staining on the canvas itself and the leather corners.
